Seguso Family

Present since 1300 in the census books of Murano, Italy, today the prestigious Seguso Murano glass family has a Brazilian branch. Mario Seguso was born in Murano, Venice, Italy in 1929. He studied in the Venetian Institute of Art, specializing with Masters Guido Balsamo Stella e Carlo Scarpa. In 1954, Mario Seguso was invited to execute special commemorative pieces for the 400th anniversary of the city of S? Paulo. Enchanted by Brazil, he decided to stay there and continue the family line in this Country opening an workshop in Minas Gerais State.

His intention was to produce serious, artistic work of the highest level, and become known throughout Brazil and abroad. After years of supervising the production of artisan crystal, he assured its continuity through his sons Michel Seguso and Adriano Seguso, who carry on the Seguso Family tradition. They use the same techniques used since the 1300s, following the family tradition, but their art reveals great influence by the Brazilian colors, culture and traditions.

Since then, the Seguso Family in Brazil has been recognized for the creativity and originality of their work. They are always are cited in news articles, award ceremonies and exhibits, with an increasing number of admirers and collectors. The artistry of the Seguso Family has been featured in Depth Magazine. One of Mr. Mario Seguso's master pieces, The Kiss, was priced US$4,800 in 2006 (there is an article on The America's Intelligence Wire - Oct 24, 2006, mentioning that).
