| This is a fantastic Warrior's Turtle Shell Rattle created by Bob and Annlee who did all the Peyote Stitch seed beading using a 3-drop stitch,and there is about 4 1/2 inches of Peyote Beading. The shell is immaculate on both sides. Measures: Top: 3 inches widest side to side End to end shell Length: 3 1/2 inches Peyote Stitch about 4 1/2 inches End to end with the handle and fringe is about 10.1 inches The fringe was hand cut from brain-tanned deer skin and is fully hand stiched to the handle and to the beading using a lacing stitch and duel locking stitches. Generations will share in this Rattle as you hand it down the Native Ways. There is about 4 1/2 inches of Peyote Stitch Beading that adorns the handle and compliments the Turtle Shell. Traditional wave pattern was used so it works for all tribes: Colors of beads: Black, tourquoise, red, orange, yellow Number 11 beads Under side horse main braid is about 8 1/4 inches long and cascades along the shell exactly as Bob desired with unbraided end of about 2 inches. When used ( Rattled ) the horse main braid drops automatically out of the hands way exactly as desired in high quailty Regalia. Under side braid is about 7 inches long and cascades along the shell exactly as Bob desired and has 7 inches of white horse main braided into the leather and about 1 inch of horse hair left to dangle out. This is a light weight Regalia Quality Turtle Shell rattle: 2.3 ounces The sound is dramatic and crystal clear rattling. The wood handle itself is a design created by Bob that twist locks to the shell and allows the tip for tying the bottom braid with horse hair to have a special connection to the Turtle Shell Rattle. It is hand crafted and custom grooved to twist and lock into the shell itself. The coyote fur was attached (inside-out)to seal the turtles natural holes with a mixture of natural pine sap ( Traditional ) and a mixture of modern sealent and they will not come loose from rattling.They are embeded inward and attached inside the turtle shell and do not extend any fur outside of the shell edges exactly as they should be in the traditional ways. This is something other crafters may have not learned to do properly as thier furs protrude from the shell and this is not proper in tarditional Turtle Shell Rattles and remains a secret art of the crafter. Hand crafted with care, concern and traditionally. The shell was cleaned by the red ants and then properly cured and treated with a sealer and very shiny finish bringing it to as it was when Mr. Turtle lived within it. The shell is stunning! The underside braid with horse hair gently bounces with movement and adds to this distinctive top of the line Regalia creation. It has been in the smoke of the White Sage and blessed for the Circle.
