| A Turtle Shell belly plate was used by David Back to create this origianl inked art on bone. He titled it: Turtle Creek Encampment and the detailing on the bone is remarkable. Length: 6 6/16ths inches Width: 1 1/2 A campfire, tee pee and evan an eagle and trees and more. The culture of the Native American decorated many bones with drawings they applied. To-day artists with modern inks are able to re-create the native art and some artists like David Back have created their own distinctive bone Art pieces. Annlee Cakes is proud to offer for the first time the beautiful bone art of David Back. While we have taken care to take pictures no photo is like holding the finished bone art creation and seeing with human eyes. Bone is a rather interesting medium for art? Bone at times has small discolorations like small brown looking spots and this is quite normal when working with bones to create hand-drawn art upon them. The artist himself picks the exact bone he desires to use for each One-Of-A-Kind Creation. David Back is a graduate of The Union Institute of Cincinnati, Ohio and is a member of the online organization North American Nature Photography Association (NANPA). David’s photographic talent was featured in the 2008 Capture Cincinnati photo contest. From David: My love of art began at an early age in my life my mother enjoyed drawing with me and as I grew older she taught me a lot about enjoying art. My Junior High School Librarian (Mr. Robert Taylor) was a big influence on me, he taught me about art fungus drawing a lost art from the turn of the century (1900’s) and I developed a style of drawing very similar to his based on this influence. I would paint or do pen and ink drawings off and on over the years but didn't really get into it until I got a little older. I draw whatever the “great spirit” leads me to draw or paint. Often times the scenes are Native American items or lifestyle however a certain covered bridge has always been etched into my mind’s eye. Meeting Annie has inspired me and we work together from time to time on art projects. May you now enjoy exploring David's Bone Art and consider one for your collection? Blessings.......Annlee His bone art is becoming very very collectable as each is a One-Of-A-Kind Can not be shipped out side the United States...Sorry! |
